Hello, everyone I’m Dustin. Yeah, the most memorable moments…yeah, it’s a tough question. I’ve got many memorable, fun moments at BES but I think one that stands out always in my mind is that I had a junior high school student that was struggling a little with the material at hand, and kind of as class went on and we were practicing more and more, she started nailing it and kind of answering correctly & quickly. And just by the end of the lesson I could see how happy she was on her face and she even did a little “fist pump” like “Yeah, I did it!” And just, yeah, it was a nice feeling and to see how happy she was, to see her confidence rise in that moment….That was a very memorable moment for me.
eah, my childhood dream was to be a “Shohei Ohtani”. Yeah, he wasn’t around when I was a child, but my dream was always to be a baseball player. I kind of lived and breathed baseball as a child. From age four through high school it was kind of part of my life. And even in school I would wake up earlier than I had to just to have enough time to watch sports news and be up to date on all my favorite players and teams. And yeah, just that was kind of always my dream to be a baseball player. I wasn’t as good as Ohtani but it was still a dream.

BESで教える中で、嬉しいことや楽しいことはたくさんあって、一つに絞るのは難しいですが、
特に印象に残っているのは、一人の中学生です。
あるとき、その日のレッスンは内容が難しかったので、その生徒さんがちょっと苦労していたんです。でも、一緒に何回も繰り返し練習しているうちに、段々とできるようになってきて、そのうち、正確にパッと答えられるようになって、レッスンが終わる頃には、表情にも自信が表れていました。とても嬉しそうで、小さくガッツポーズをして、「やった！」という感じでした。
生徒さんの、その自信に満ちて嬉しそうな様子を見たとき、私もすごく嬉しかったんですよね。
その時のことは、ずっと印象深く、心に残っています。
Q2.: 子どもの頃の夢は何でしたか？
子どもの頃になりたかったのは、「大谷翔平」です。
当時はまだ大谷選手はいませんでしたが、野球選手になるのが、ずっと私の夢でした。
子どもの頃は、ずっと野球一筋で、4歳から高校まで、野球が生活の一部だったんです。
学校のある日でも、早起きしてスポーツニュースを見て、毎日、好きな選手やチームをチェックしていました。本当に野球に夢中でした。大谷選手ほど上手ではなかったですが、当時の私の大切な夢でした。
