Hi, I’m Brian. Welcome to BES. Well, our motto is “Speak First and Think Later” and there’s a reason for it. We feel that a lot of students don’t have the confidence that they should have. They feel they need to study too much, they need to learn so many different ways of saying the same exact thing and are so concerned about the differences in the different ways of saying things, when actually any one of those ways would be sufficient to express what they want to say. So, part of our job is helping students where they are and helping them communicate, use the English only environment and not “overthink” things too much. If they can speak first, and not worry so much about what they’re saying and get it out there we can adjust around the edges and help with rephrasing something differently, but the most important thing is to be speaking, not just thinking and studying. So, that’s why we want to help our students to “Speak first, think later”.
It gives them a tool to do anything. The kids at BES that grew up through the Pre-American Homeroom (preschool) and the American Homeroom (elementary) Programs build a base that they can use for the rest of their lives. They don’t just understand English. They’re also able to play around with the language and joke, so their personalities come out in English. It’s fun to see that transition. And it’s even more fun to see where they go with those skills as they build that base and move on into the junior high school and high school programs communicating more and more. Later in life, they tell us what they’ve learned, what they’ve done and places they’ve gone. How English has helped them: in their job, in their careers, studies abroad and many different experiences. They come back and share that with us. As teachers there’s nothing better than seeing that what you’ve taught them has made a difference in their lives.

小学生クラスを修了したあとは、中学生クラス、高校生クラスでさらに力を伸ばし、
どんどん話せるようになります。
学校での勉強や出来事、どんなところへ行き、どんな経験をしたかを、英語で私たちに話してくれます。
さらに、BESを卒業した後でも、BESで学んだことが、進学先や仕事でどんなふうに役に立ったかを、私たちに教えてくれるんです。
私たちにとってこれ以上嬉しいことはありません。
